The 2JZ-GTE is the Twin Turbocharged version of the 2JZ inline-six engine, while the 2JZ-GE is the Naturally Aspirated (NA) Version. The main difference, other than one having turbochargers and the other not, is that the 2JZ-GE has a less aggressive camshaft profile. This is because it was designed for reliability and not performance.

Toyota introduced the Mark II luxury car in 1968, and it remained in production until 2007 (the sedan was discontinued in 2004).

what cars have a 2jz engine

Then there’s the 1JZ-FSE, a little-known version that was introduced in 2000, that featured direct injection and a different cylinder head than the one found on the 1JZ-GE.

The 1JZ-GE is the most basic version. It produces 170 hp and 173 lb-ft of torque, which went up to 200 hp and 185 lb-ft after receiving VVT-i variable valve timing in 1995.

If you’re on a budget, choosing 1JZ vs 2JZ will usually cost less, but it can still be modified to develop 700+ whp while remaining relatively reliable.

 • Displacement: 2.5L (2,492 cc, 152.1 cu in)
 •
Regardless of the 2JZ engine variant you use, it has several advantages over its competitors. The 2JZ models produced for their time an unprecedented level of performance for sports cars and other compact vehicles. The six-cylinder inline setup created a powerful unit that could compete with larger engines that required more fuel and were less efficient. In addition, the efficiency meant that these compact engines could provide the power drivers wanted combined with agile handling.
